My initial idea was to have a steampunk-looking guy with goggles, but then I offhandedly thought that Sunfire's crazy mask was kind of luchador-looking. Luchadors are masked professional wrestlers popular in Spanish-speaking countries, in case you're not familiar with the term. Once I made that connection, it was pretty impossible to not use such a cool idea! For the name, I liked various combinations of fire etc, and I thought "Sun Burn" sounded cool, except, y'know, a sunburn, er, is just a sunburn. But hey, it sounds cool in Spanish! I got a little nuts with the flames in Illustrator, but I think they look pretty cool. Best of all, now I can go check out everyone else's versions of Sunfire! :) Up next: Storm!
